Volunteering at Yoga Mela

A space to give, grow, and belong

Each year, Yoga Mela is brought to life by a group of volunteers who come not only to participate, but to contribute. Volunteering is at the heart of the festival. It is how Yoga Mela becomes more than an event: it becomes a shared experience, created together.

In this spirit, serving becomes a way of participating beyond personal interest. You offer your hands, your presence, and your time, not primarily for your own benefit or reward, but as a way of being part of something meaningful.

And often, it is in these simple moments — chopping vegetables, setting up a space, supporting your team — that a sense of profound joy and belonging begins to unfold. What begins as simple tasks often becomes something more deeply felt: strangers become friends, tasks become moments of presence and lived meditation, and the festival becomes a place that feels like home.

You will be part of a team, supported and guided, sharing responsibility and a daily flow with others. Together, you help create the atmosphere that so many come to experience: a space of peace, care, and a conscious way of living.

Volunteering at Yoga Mela is not separate from the festival; it is at the very heart of it, as a lived expression of yoga and spirituality in action.

“At Yoga Mela, togetherness is the core of everything. Everybody was very active in co-creating the festival, helping with serving the food, cleaning and dish washing and no one behaved like a guest. I heard so many times participants say: ‘I feel so at home’.

“An incredible energy was created through so many people helping one another and sharing one vision. Throughout the festival, it was just amazing to witness the collective peace and innocent joy that was experienced.’’

– Shelley Halstead, from London
