Volunteering at Yoga Mela 2024

Welcome to co-create Yoga Mela with us!

A non-profit and voluntary-based event

Yoga Mela is a fully non-profit and voluntary based festival of its own kind. Many of the Yoga Mela volunteers return year after year to participate in this joyful co-creating experience, alongside the Divinya community.

An experience of love & togetherness

Co-creating Yoga Mela is a beautiful experience of togetherness, where everyone is passionate and self-motivated to collectively create something magical in a beautiful, vibrant atmosphere of peace and love.

“At Yoga Mela people come together with a strong intention to create this field of Peace & Unity and through that, to contribute to a shift in human consciousness.

Being with them gives you the chance to do something for a higher purpose, something beyond yourself. It makes you wonder: How would life on Earth be if the whole humanity became one big family?”

Florie, 5th Yoga Mela Volunteer

Areas of engagement & applications

Everyone coming to Divinya enters into the unique experience of being part of a global family. As a volunteer, you can apply to one of the following areas:

Specialized Volunteering

Would you like to join the in-house team to document the festival atmosphere and its different programs? Then this is the application for you! Please note: only passionate photographers and videographers will be considered.

You will have the copyright on your material, with the organizers (Divinya) right, to use the collectively collected material for promotional purposes and to share it with the present artists.

Bring your own video and photo equipment. Your presence during the entire festival is appreciated, and if you like, feel welcome to join us already for a few days beforehand to document the making of Yoga Mela.

Highly appreciated and anticipated by the youngsters is the Children’s Festival at Yoga Mela. We offer a natural playground where children can meet and enjoy various activities and have the possibility to just be a child. The volunteers take turns facilitating the children’s festival and are encouraged to share their joy and creativity. A background in pedagogy, theater pedagogy, circus skills, or children’s yoga is a big bonus! The childcare team is of course very welcome to also come some days before the festival starts to help with general preparation tasks, but can also arrive on Friday, July 12.

Join our dynamic and efficient team of sound and light engineers and help to make sure all the concerts, workshops, and classes run smoothly.

The ability to sense and respond quickly is essential in this crucial area. Volunteers will need to assist in carrying heavy equipment and have technical knowledge.

Previous experience is a bonus but those with a passion for this area are also welcome.

Please note: The Volunteers wishing to join the sound team are required to arrive at the latest on July 11.

General Volunteering

Among the big group of volunteers we will together make sure that the festival flows joyfully and smoothly throughout the days. All volunteers will be part of a team.

In your application you can choose 3 preferred areas of engagement and we will do our best to organise the teams accordingly. However, we expect that all volunteers come with a general openness and are ready to engage in any area that needs support.

Volunteers supporting our committed and joyful kitchen team will be cutting vegetables, helping to prepare food, serving meals, and also helping to keep the kitchen clean and tidy. If you have experience in baking, especially with making raw cakes, please let us know.

People gifted with a calm and friendly approach are welcome in the Yoga Mela cafés and various food venues. Serving customers at the till, preparing warm beverages and juices, and maintaining the cleanliness of the space are essential components in these areas.

At Yoga Mela you will experience a beautiful and profound collective energy field of peace, love, and innocent joy. At the heart of this is a deep sense of self-responsibility and the readiness to sense and respond wherever needed. While everybody at the festival washes their own dishes, we will need an enthusiastic team at the dishwashing station to ensure everything is clean, tidy, and beautiful.

We wish for everybody at Yoga Mela to enjoy a graceful, clean, and beautiful environment. The housekeeping and cleaning team plays a vital and rewarding role in making sure that we all can feel at home and take care of our home altogether. This is a beautiful seva commitment which is always highly appreciated by everyone at the festival.

Those with an eye for detail and a passion for creativity are welcome to join the decoration team in beautifying and decorating the venues and public spaces of Divinya before and during Yoga Mela.

If you are passionate about volunteering at Yoga Mela and wish to join the community members in helping wherever is needed, then you are welcome to apply as an all-rounder. This is a beautiful opportunity to transcend personal preferences and experience the essence of seva (selfless service).

Let’s co-create this festival together, with all our enthusiasm, passion and joy!
